Tips for Breastfeeding On-The-Go
Tips for Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding can become a big hassle when the mother has to return to school or work. Between their busy schedules, mothers may not be able to find the time to properly breastfeed their infant. Thus, it is important to find easy and accessible tips for breastfeeding on-the-go or with a busy schedule.
Some tips that mothers may find helpful for breastfeeding with a busy schedule include obtaining a well-sustained pump. Although it may be more affordable to purchase a single, manual pump, a double, electric pump will ease the mother’s life on a day-to-day basis. Double, electric pumps are simply more efficient than a single pump.1 Additionally, mothers are also have the right to pump at work. According to Section 7 of the Fair Labor Standards Act, working mothers have the right to a reasonable break time to express milk for their infant’s first year—and a private place to do it that isn’t a bathroom.1 Another helpful idea that can make breastfeeding easier is to purchase a hands-free nursing bra. This bra will give the mother the ability to multitask while breastfeeding her infant simultaneously.1
Although these tips can aid a busy mother in breastfeeding, it is important for the mother to simply schedule pumping sessions into her calendar. Work can be time-consuming and demanding, but it is vital that the mother does not miss a pumping session, because this can diminish breastmilk supply for the infant in the long run. It is important that the mother prioritizes her work of being a mother as well as a breadwinner for her family.
